Persistence and the pursuit of senior fitness

Interesting.. Every week at the Phillipsburg Nutrition Center there are 3 or 4 women who pay no attention to the exercises. They come to play cards and socialize.

Today it was going along just the same until I started on the hand and finger exercises, which I do each week. For some reason, two of the women stopped playing cards and joined in the hand sets.

Is this win? I think so.. I am finding that persistence is working over the long haul.

Others in the room also are beginning to participate in sections of the program then initially avoided and overall the groups is responding better each week.

What does this mean for you?

If you have a parent or are a caregiver to anyone, don’t give up on trying to get them to exercise. Keep showing the movements and keep talking about how they relate to everyday activity and their benefits.

You never know when that breakthrough moment will come.
