A simple truth about starting to exercise at any age

June 15, 2013

If you wake up one day and say, “ today I will start exercising”  before you know it you are in the middle of your typical morning routine.

Take a guess what happens next:

You

  • go off to work
  • then come home for dinner
  • then do some relaxing
  • then go back to bed

and you get up the next day and say, “today I will start exercising”…

and it starts all over again… sound familiar?

I have found through experience and heard similar from many others that:

The only way to make a change in your lifestyle geared to really change your lifestyle is to plan it.

It takes some simply stated but no so simply executed steps:

  • Create measurable and realistic, achievable goals
  • Set timetables to complete them
  • Set schedules to perform them
  • and act on them

No matter what your age, there are levels of improvement that ARE achievable.  The only thing stopping you from making even slight changes may not be your desire, but your approach.

For those who don’t know, I specialize in working with older adults teaching simple balance, flexibility and range of motion exercises that allow them to see quick results that help inspire them to do more!
