Great expectations can kill initiative

January 6, 2015

Let’s talk for just a second about goals.

When starting something new most of us want results, or should I say need to see results, and fast or we lose momentum.

I prefer the incremental attitude.

Increment:  the amount or degree by which something changes; especially :the amount of positive or negative change in the value of one or more of a set of variables.

Keep this definition in mind as you go through the process of trying to lose weight, improve your fitness, balance or whatever positive change you are aiming for.

Far too many people are too hard on themselves when big changes don’t occur quickly.

The reality is that small steady changes are the ones that normally stick.
